Kızılırmak is the basin of the middle Iron Age

This study which involves the Iron Age in the Mid Kızılırmak Basin, that has a special significance due its geographic location. The region attracted people since the beginning of the pre-historic ages. Setting aside the researches which do not possess much scientific aspect, the first studies in the Mid Kızılırmak Basin were realized at the beginning of the 1980's. As a result of these studies, both the pre-historical and the historical ages of the basin were revealed. However there is no stand alone study that provides information of the basin's Iron Age. In the beginning, just like Anatolia in general this field which was affected by the chaotic environment of the Early Iron Age, became home to important kingdoms of the Iron Age such as Phrygian and Tabal with the reformation of the tumultuous environment over time. Whereas later on during the Persian hegemony of Anatolia, it became one of the renowned areas of Anatolia Additionally, apart from these political establishments in the region, there were many habitations throughout the Iron Age akin to Anatolia in general. This study which will provide detailed information on the Iron Age of the region has been limited to Kırıkkale, Kırşehir and Nevşehir provinces. Data from 14 settlements in Kırıkkale, 61 settlements in Kırşehir and 21 settlements in Nevşehir which are all located within the Mid Kızılırmak Basin, have been considered within the scope of this study and have been contributed to the literature.
