Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of nonlinear loads and converters on the input power and total harmonic distortion factors are analyzed and the use of power factor correction techniques to impove power quality of ac systems is investigated. The circuit used in this investigation is a current controlled single-phase boost preregulator operating in continuous conduction mode and supplying a 200 W load. The simulation of the proposed control circuit is realized using Matlab/Simulink program and 210 watt prototype circuit is developed by using UC 3854N commercial IC. The experimental results confirm the simulation results and show how the proposed circuit improves the input power and the input current total harmonic distortion factors.
