Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between time management skills and the academic achievement of high school students. The sample of this study, which was designed with the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, consists of 1029 high school students at the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of Anatolian, science and vocational high schools in the city center of Diyarbakır in the 2023-2024 academic year and who volunteered to participate. The Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher and the "Time Management Skills Scale for high School Students" (ZYBÖ), developed by the researcher within the scope of this research and whose validity and reliability evidence have been demonstrated, were used ZYBÖ has four sub-factors: planning, following the plan, using time effectively, procrastination, and a total of 17 items. Since the data obtained in the study, was normally distributed parametric analyses were applied. In pairwise comparisons, the Independent Groups t-test was used as a parametric test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used in multiple comparisons. Tukey HSD Multiple Comparison Test was used to determine the groups that created differences in one-way variance analysis. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis was applied to reveal the relationship between time management skills and academic achievement according to the data obtained from the scales.Statistically no significant difference was observed between the ZYB in terms of the gender, place of residence and school type of the students. Howover, a weak but significant difference was observed in favor of vocational high schools between the sub-factors of following the plan and procrastination sub-factors in terms of school type. According to the student's grade level, a weak but significant difference was found between the ZYB and planning and using time effectively skills sub- factors in favor of the 12th graders. According to the status of receiving training on time management, a moderately significant difference was found between the ZYB and the sub-factors planning, using time effectively, and procrastination sub-factors in favor of those who received training. As a result of the research, a weakly significant difference was found between the time management skills and academic success of high school students. This difference was found between the low-level and high-level students in favor of the high-level students. In addition, a low-level positive significant relationship was found between the time management skills of high school students and their academic achievements. It was determined that high school students had a medium level of general time management skills and following the plan, using time effectively and procrastination.
