Abstract (EN)

The study aims to examine the digital literacy levels of 5th-grade middle school students in relation to various variables. For this purpose, the survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, was applied to 5th-grade middle school students during the 2021-2022 academic year. Through this research method, the effects of students' gender, ownership of smartphones and tablets, maternal educational level, and paternal educational level on their digital literacy skills were investigated. The findings of the study revealed no significant difference between the gender of the students and their digital literacy skill levels. However, a significant difference was found between students' ownership of smartphones and tablets and their digital literacy skill levels. The results also indicated a significant difference between maternal educational level and the digital literacy skill levels of 5th-grade students. Similarly, a significant difference was observed between paternal educational level and the students' digital literacy levels. In conclusion, the study found that, except for the gender variable, other variables such as ownership of smartphones and tablets, maternal educational level, and paternal educational level had a significant impact on the digital literacy skill levels of 5th-grade middle school students.
