Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of transferring the circulatory and respiratory system topics of the 6th grade Science course with the Brain-Based Learning theory in addition to today's learning approaches on the academic success of the students. The population of the research consists of 6th grade students in Altınordu district of Ordu province; The sample of the study consists of 6th grade students of a public secondary school in Altınordu district of Ordu province. Teaching the circulatory and respiratory system to students is planned for four weeks in line with the science curriculum. Two 6th grade students with similar academic achievements at a public secondary school in Altınordu district of Ordu were selected for the scope of the research. Before starting the subject, a pre-test (skill-based tests of the Ministry of National Education) was given to the students in order to learn the preliminary knowledge of all students included in the study. One of the classes was designed as a control group and the other as an experimental group. The subject was transferred to the control group in line with the aims and achievements of the science curriculum of the 2023-2024 academic year and this class constituted the control group. The other class formed the experimental group. The subject was conveyed to the experimental group in line with the aims and achievements of the science curriculum of the 2023-2024 academic year, and the subject was conveyed to the students by using different learning theories and different learning techniques within the integrity of the subject. After the circulatory and respiratory systems were transferred to the experimental and control groups, the post-test (skill-based tests of the Ministry of Education) was applied to all students. Within the scope of the study, a pretest-posttest controlled group design was applied. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to evaluate the results of the tests and to determine whether these results were normally distributed. The average achievement scores obtained after the pre- and post-test applied to the students were compared with the Independent Sample T-Test using the SPSS program for intra-group and inter-group comparisons, and the significance level of the test was determined as .01 confidence level. In this study, the semi-experimental research method, one of the experimental research methods, was used.
