Abstract (EN)
In this research, it is aimed to contribute to both music teachers' lesson planning and music education by analyzing and analyzing the cover videos of the works in the 2018 Secondary School Music Lesson Curriculum. Exploratory sequential design, one of the mixed research methods in which qualitative and quantitative research methods are used together, was used in the research. There are two universes and two sample groups in the study. The first universe of the research consists of music teachers working in Balıkesir province and the first sample consists of 24 music teachers working in secondary schools in Balıkesir in the 2022-2023 academic year. The second universe of the research consists of the works in the 2018 Secondary School Music Education Program, and the second sample consists of the videos of 12 covers in the 2018 Secondary School Music Education Program. During the data collection process, two separate questionnaires were applied to music teachers at different times, completing each other. The first survey consists of a total of 34 questions, including 6 questions about music teachers' personal information, 28 questions about their planning for teaching pieces and determining the pieces they prefer in the lessons within the scope of the 2018 Secondary School Music Education Program. In the last question of the survey, the list of the works included in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade plans of the 2018 Middle School Music Education Program was asked and they were asked to identify the 3 most used works from these works on a class basis. In the second survey, the 5 most watched cover videos on youtube for the 12 works they chose were determined for each work and the teachers were asked to indicate their preferences. Frequency (f) and percentage (%) values were used in the analysis of the data obtained through the surveys, and content analysis was used in the technical analysis of the 12 cover videos determined through the second survey. As a result of the research, it has been concluded that music teachers frequently use different materials in teaching the work, apply to various versions of the works, use the cover versions at a high level, and prefer the youtube application most in the lessons. In addition, a total of 12 cover videos, 3 of which were determined according to each grade level with the preferences of the music teachers, were analyzed under the titles of playing, improvising and reproducing according to instrument difference, harmonization difference, composition difference, genre difference and soloist difference. It has been determined that the videos have turned into cover versions within the framework of these criteria specified in the research.
