Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to reveal how the concepts of conquest and "gaza "(holly war) are handled in Social Studies Textbooks. In this context, 5th, 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies Textbooks were examined. At secondary schools, it is seen that historical information and historical awareness are tried to be created in Social Studies lessons. It is seen that the Gaza tradition is especially important in the socio-economic life of the Ottoman society. Jihad is a concept formed with Islam. Jihad means using all the spiritual and material forces, brought together in good faith in order to achieve high goals for the sake of Allah. In order to determine the jihad method, the conditions that are currently active are determined and the most effective and appropriate method is decided in these conditions. The phenomenon of conquest, which emerged with Islam, was also a concept that qualifies the political and military activities that Muslims would carry out to spread their religion. The document review method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, will be used in the study. Document review is expressed as a systematic review of existing records or documents as a data source. In this context, 5th, 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies Textbooks were examined. As a result of the examination, the subject of conquest and "Gaza" was not found in the 5th grade textbook. In addition, While the issues of Gaza and conquest were discussed during the reign of Mohammed and the Four Caliphs in the 6th grade textbook; In the 7th grade textbook, it was seen that the Seljuk and Ottoman State were handled. In the study, primarily; education, teaching, textbooks and learning theories were conceptually evaluated. Then, the concepts of conquest and "gaza" have been discussed and the importance of conquest and "gaza" in Turkish history has been emphasized. Then, in the 5th, 6th and 7th grade textbooks, every page on the subject of conquest and "gaza" is conveyed and interpreted as images.
