Evaluation of secondary school Turkish textbooks in terms of including science and technology

Scientific developments and technology are increasing their place and importance day by day in the life of people and society, in the education and training process, and they find a place for themselves more than ever. For this reason, students' scientific developments appropriate for the age; It is expected that technological tools such as phones, tablets and computers will be recognized and understood correctly and will benefit from them at the maximum level in the education and learning process. With qualified innovations, qualified technological equipment will contribute to qualified education and this will turn into qualified manpower. The preparation of Turkish textbooks, which is one of the most used materials and elements in teaching Turkish as a mother tongue, in parallel and in harmony with scientific and technological concepts, can contribute to more effective education and training processes and to increase the interests and curiosity of students. There have been many studies that have shown that learning processes designed and organized in accordance with scientific and technological developments have a positive effect on student success. In this study, which examines whether scientific and technological concepts are included in Turkish textbooks; Secondary school 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks were evaluated through document analysis. Whether scientific and technological concepts are included in subjects and themes, texts, preparatory studies, activities, visuals and evaluation studies was examined according to the Subject Suggestions and Competencies determined by TCC.
