Morphological analysis for Osmaneli traditional houses

The traditional architectural heritage is a reflection of a society's cultural richness that has formed over hundreds of years. At the same time, since it is the "common heritage of humanity", it is of great importance to be preserved and transfered to the next generations. But today, due to the change in social, cultural and economic structures, the buildings are in danger of extinction by virtue of the fact that the buildings cannot satisfy current use and the deterioration of their physical condition. The objective of this study; is to determine the physical changes experienced by traditional Osmaneli houses, which have undergone changes for social, cultural and economic reasons, by analyzing them using the 'Space Syntax' method. In this thesis, following the introduction chapter, information on the morphological analysis method, which is the method of this study, is given in the second chapter and its stages are explained. In the third chapter, information is given about the location, population, historical and architectural features of Osmaneli, where the field survey was carried out. In the fourth chapter, the changes in the social and physical structures of the residents of Osmaneli are examined. In order to determine the social structures of today's residents, surveys and on-site examinations were conducted on the determined houses. As a result of these examinations, it has been determined that the houses do not meet the spatial and social needs of current users. It has been observed that the houses have been arranged according to modern needs or abandoned due to changing lifestyles and family structures. The fifth chapter is the part in which the findings obtained from the field survey and the changes in the social and physical structure of traditional Osmaneli houses are examined. In this study that uses the space syntax technique which is one of the morphological analysis methods, firstly the analyses were performed on the traditional forms of the houses with the obtained restitutions, and then the status of the current use of the houses was analyzed. Comparisons have been conducted by comparing traditional and current uses. In the last chapter of the thesis, the results obtained from the analyzes were evaluated and recommendations for the region were presented.
