Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out between the years 2021-2022 in order to determine how the people benefit from the naturally grown plants throughout the province of Osmaniye and to determine the differences between the districts. Within the scope of the study, 22 villages were visited throughout the province of Osmaniye and face-to-face interviews were conducted with the people. As a result of the study, it was determined that 125 taxa belonging to 57 families throughout the province were used for ethnobotanical purposes. 83 taxa are used for medicinal, 56 taxa for food, 13 taxa for timber, 13 taxa for miscellaneous goods, 11 taxa for dyestuff, 8 taxa for animal feed, 8 taxa for fuel, 7 taxa for ornamental, 6 taxa for cosmetics, 2 taxa for adhesive. 112 taxa were identified in the central district, 110 in Hasanbeyli, 90 in Bahçe, 84 in Düziçi, 72 in Kadirli, 65 in Sumbas and 64 in Toprakkale. It has been determined that 54 taxa belonging to 35 families are grown throughout the province and used for the same purpose. It has been determined that 18 of these taxa detected throughout the province are similar to the way of use that Dioscorides gave about 2000 years ago.
