Ottoman-Austrian relations: Treaty of Sistovi and drawing of borders

The war which started in 1789 between the Ottman Empire and Austria ended in 1791. At the end of the war, since the Treaty of Sistovi was signed on 4th August 1791, the borders between the two states had to be redrawn and redefined. The aim of our study is to convey the developments in these border drawings and to discuss the changing aspects of the Ottoman Empire with the Treaty of Sistovi. The Ottoman Empire started to develop in the areas such as especially diplomacy, military, and education at the end of the 18ᵗʰ century. In this thesis study, information is given about how the Works were conducted in these areas from the period till the 18ᵗʰ century. Besides these developments, it is mentioned that the situations of two states in the pre-war and post-war periods were mentioned in the study. Also, the process in the border drawings is explained in detail. This thesis was written as a result of the literature review. Additionally, the Ottoman Archives of Prime Ministry and necessary libraries were used in this progress.
