Abstract (EN)
The Ottoman period in Arabic literature begins with the entry of Yavuz Sultan Selim, the 9th Ottoman Sultan and 88th Islamic Caliph, into Syria in 1516, followed by his entrance into Egypt in 1517. This era continues until 1802, when the French were expelled from Egypt, leading to Mehmet Ali Pasha's recognition as the Governor of Egypt by the Bâbıâlî in 1805 and his establishment of control over the region. The term "Ottoman period in Arabic literature" generally refers to Arabic literature produced in regions such as Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria. In this study, the perspectives of Orientalists and Arab intellectuals on Ottoman period Arabic literature will first be evaluated. Subsequently, the theme of praise in Arabic literature will be addressed, and the poems of praise written for Ottoman sultans and state officials will be identified and analyzed.
