Abstract (EN)
Bindallı is a regional garment, which is produced by intensive labor and worn with great acclaim in every period. The forms, fabric characteristics, ways of usage and place of use of Bindallı may differ from region to region. These traits stem from the creative heritage of the local people by combining the cultural heritage and the materials and resources from the past.In general, they appear as bridal clothes, where the embossed motifs are processed with a glazed wire on velvet fabrics.The subject of this study is based on the analysis of the transformation of the Ottoman Period bindallı tradition and clothing in and around Erzurum in the 21st century. Within the scope of the research, the regional differences in bindallıs peculiar to the vicinity of Erzurum and current production techniques, new motifs, colours and new uses in accordance with today's fashion in the 21st century have tried to been detected.For this purpose, bindallıs in various museums and collections in Erzurum region were detected; the collections of institutions that produce in Erzurum were analysed and producer educators were interviewed about the new production methods. With the emerging results, old production methods, motifs, patterns, colours, production quality and the variety of design forms were compared with current methods and styles and thus new suggestions were offered to producers and researchers in order to revive the old production quality.
