Abstract (EN)

The HNP(Hernie Nucleus Pulposus) patients classification, evaluation, treatment and treatment results are generally evaluated with clinical findings, physical aspects and radiological images. But these datas present only the physical part of the disease. New scales were developed due to patients physical, social, mental condition so that patient?s life quality could be measured. The ODI scala has been used in many studies and clinical practice. 10 questioned scale in English, that was prepared to examine different cultures and different languages, makes ODI scala as a useful and reliable test. ODI scale has been used only in a study in our country with patients who had back pain. The ethiology of the back pain had no importance. In that study the ODI scale was found to be a trustable test but needed to be developed due to different spinal pathologies. In our study we analized the quality of the patients with back pain in Turkish population, The Oswetry Disability Index scales trustability and effectivity that has been stuied on the base of KF?36 scoring system. In this study 136 HNP patients older than 18 years old has beeen observed in Celal Bayar University and Reanimation Algology Clinic. Written and verbal information were given to patients and written confirmation were get.Descriptive questions asked to the patients and KF-36 anf ODI scales were used. The descriptive questions were age, gender, education, marital status, profession and chronical disease. All questions were asked to the patients face to face by a doctor that studies in Anesthesiology and Reanimasyon Clinic. The results were analyzed by SPSS 13,0 statistical program. In this study we used Cronbach Alfa coefficient, T test, Mann-Whitney-U test, Kruskal Wallis Varians Analyse , Pearson correlation analyse as statiscal evaluation.False and incomplete 16 patients were taken out of this study. 120 patient results were evaluated. The answering time was 5.5±1.4 minutes in ODI and 6.2±1.1 minutes in KF-36. The avarage age was 50.0±14,1(minimum:24; maximum:79), 38 (%31,7) of them was male and 82 (%68,3) of them was female. A great amount of the patients (% 63,3) were primary school educated. % 86 of the patients were married ,% 60,8 of the women were house wives. 87,5 of the patients had no chronical disease. At the end, ODI scala has found in trustable borders (0.60-0.80 is very trustable). Cronbach Alfa coefficient was 0,771 and it has been observed that the coefficient had decreassed when the submeasurements were taken out. Submeasurements increased ODİ trustable coefficience. The relationship of submeasurements in ODİ scala?s has been stuied with Pearson corelation analyse. Except sleeping?weight lifting and sitting?personel care variabilities, the other submeasurements had positive statistical correlation. The correlation of ODI?s component and total points were over than 0,5. It showed a great strong relationship between component and total pointTo show the effectiveness of ODI scala, we used KF-36 scale that is useful and reliable and used before in Turkish population. The distrubution of correlation coefficient between ODI and KF-36 and between all submeasurements and ODI total points and total points of KF-36 had a negative correlationAlthough ODI scala?s Turkish version?s reliablity and effectivity was reported before, in this study, the scale?s effectiveness and reliability was observed in a more standard population with spinal pathology. The scale is an useful and pratical test to evaluate the quality of the patients. ODİ?s Turkish version can allow to compare the other studies about lomber disc herniation.ODİ?s Turkish version is a well understood test, has inner consistence, and trustable. And is a helpful and qualified tool to evaluate the disability of lomber disc herniation of the population who speaks Turkish
