Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to optimize the turning parameters of the automotive axle shaft made of Ck 45 steel material by using the Taguchi-based Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) method. Cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut were determined as turning parameters, and the effects of these parameters on surface roughness and metal removal rates were investigated. Parameter levels were used as 210, 195, 180, 165 m/min for cutting speed, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3 mm for feed rate, and 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 mm for cutting depth. Taguchi L16 orthogonal design was used as the experimental design. Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) method was used to obtain optimum results. In this way, optimum values were obtained by making a couple of experiments. The best GRA value was found to be 0.72 in experiment 13. Accordingly, optimum cutting parameters were determined as 165 m/min cutting speed, 0.15 mm feed rate and 0.4 mm cutting depth.
