Abstract (EN)
In this study, the characterization and tribological properties of polypropylene composite materials filled with chesnut and geven were investigated and their usability in tribological parts in the automotive industry was investigated. Within the scope of the thesis study, polypropylene (PP) composite samples with 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 15%, 20% by weight chesnut and 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% by weight geven additives were produced and wear and friction tests were carried out in pin-disc device under dry ambient conditions at 10 N, 30 N and 50 N loads and 0.5 m/s, 1 m/s and 1.5 m/s sliding speeds. As a result of the hardness tests, the highest hardness value was obtained in PP/20 Chestnut composite with 77.4. As a result of the study, when the relationship between sliding speed and friction coefficient is examined, when the sliding speed is increased from 0.5 m/s to 1.0 m/s, the increase in friction coefficients is 7.39% in PP polymer and 10.48% in PP/5 Chestnut composite. ratio, 9.45% in PP/10 Chestnut composite and 7.17% in PP/15 Chestnut composite. In the PP/20 Chestnut composite, this value was obtained as 7.51%. Likewise, 12.28% for chestnut-added materials PP/5Chestnut, PP/10Chestnut, PP/15Chestnut and PP/20Chestnut, respectively; 11.53%; Rates of 10% and 13.04% were obtained. According to the results, increasing sliding speed also increases the friction coefficient. The variation of the friction coefficient depending on the load was also observed, and it was concluded that the coefficient increased as the load increased. When the effect of materials on the wear rate is examined; When increased from 0.5 m/s to 1.0 m/s, the wear rate of PP polymer increased by 16.39% and 18.74% for PP/10Geven, PP/20Geven, PP/30Geven and PP/40Geven, respectively; 14.28%; It was determined that it increased by 23.00% and 7.96%. 12.28% for PP/5Chestnut, PP/10Chestnut, PP/15Chestnut and PP/20Chestnut, respectively; 11.53%; Rates of 10% and 13.04% were obtained. Likewise, the change depending on the load was examined and it was observed that the wear resistance decreased as the load increased.
