Searching for a method in determining parking management strategies: The case of Trabzon

In this study, it is aimed to examine the real-time parking behaviors in the field by making use of user association as well as scientific data during the strategy selection phase in parking planning and to make optimal choices for the city with the opinions of users against the parking strategies selected for Trabzon Ortahisar district. The evaluation of the results obtained with the traditional approach together with the user profile and habits will help to make optimal choices for the city in parking strategy choices. At this stage, strategies were determined according to traditional calculation methods such as parking lot capacities, utilization rates, projection studies and the results obtained in the "Parking Survey". The determined strategies were directed to the users through "User Surveys". The strategies were updated as a result of the data obtained in the survey. At this point, the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method was used as a selection criterion and optimal strategy suggestions were made for the city. In the study, firstly, the studies in the literature on the methods used in the planning of parking strategies were examined. As a result of the review, it has been observed that in strategy selection criteria, approaches to determine the parking capacity needed by cities with the traditional calculation method of demand and projection calculation are exhibited and these approaches are generally associated with population and land use variables, but the user factor is ignored. It has been determined that the user factor is not sufficiently emphasized in the process of strategy selection and planning approach, and that individual users are not included in the studies and their opinions and demands are not taken. The current traditional parking lot planning approach has been inadequate from time to time in recent years. Considering the changing and developing living conditions and standards, rethought strategies have been selected for the short-medium and long term.
