Floristic and ethnobotanical features of Ovacık (Karabük)

Abstract (EN)
Research area is located in Ovacık and its villages in Karabük district. 283 plant samples were collected after the field survey between February 2015- February 2016. 237 taxa belonging to 163 genus and 58 families were identified. The most common families are Fabaceae with 28 (%11.81) taxa, Asteraceae with 25 (%10.55) taxa and Lamiaceae with 18 (%7.59) taxa. The most common families regarding to number of genus are Asteraceae 17 genus, Fabaceae 15 genus, Lamiaceae 14 genus and Rosaceae 12 genus. There are 15 endemic species. Plant species regarding to their phytogeographical regions are 10%(24 taxa) İrano-Turanian, %12 (29 taxa) Mediterranean, %18 (43 taxa) European-Siberian and %59 (141 taxa) cosmopolite and unknown taxa. Regarding to ethnobotanical view 62 plant species are used by local people for various purposes. The most common family is Rosaceae with 8 taxa in terms of ethnobotanical usage. In addition to this Fabaceae and Liliaceae families 5 and 4 taxa, respectively. Asteraceae,Corylaceae, Fagaceae, Iridaceae, Poaceae, Polygonaceae and Primulaceae familiesare represented by 3 taxa for each.
