Thematic and methodological analysis of published postgraduate theses on mathematics education with games

The aim of the study is to reveal the thematic and methodological tendencies of the graduate thesis published in the field of mathematics education with games in Turkey. For this purpose, qualitative research approach was preferred and the study was designed with content analysis models. In this context, the studies that constitute the study group of the study consist of graduate theses. The data of the study were obtained from a total of 88 graduate theses. Of these graduate theses, 11 are doctoral theses and 77 are master's theses. The full text of these theses can be accessed in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education. Each of the theses included in the study was examined and analyzed in the context of publication year, mathematics learning areas, research approaches and designs, study groups, data collection tools and data analysis techniques. As a result of the evaluation of the study findings, it was seen that the first thesis on mathematics education with games was published in 2003, research approaches were not mentioned in theses mostly, and the experimental design was preferred mostly. In the study, it was determined that secondary school students were mostly preferred in the study group, the studies were mostly carried out with groups of 31-100 people, and the selection types of the study groups used in the theses were not determinedhighly. The test technique was preferred frequently as data collection tool in the theses and the T-test was the most preferred technique among the data analysis techniques. In the evaluation made according to the mathematics learning areas in the theses included in the study, the most studied area was the learning area with numbers and operations.
