Abstract (EN)
This study on idioms expressing joy, admiration, and love in Uzbek and Turkish languages has been developed within four main sections. This study is based on Rahmatullayev's O'zbek Tilining Frazeologik Lug'ati, Yo'ldoshev and O'rinboyeva's O'zbek Xalq Dostonlarining Chastotali Izohli Frazeologik Lug'ati, Yo'ldoshev, Küçükağaoğlu and Yo'ldosheva's Uzbek-Turkish Idioms and Aksoy's Dictionary of Proverbs and Idioms. Apart from the preface and introduction, the study consists of the first part, the second part, the third part, the fourth part, the bibliography and the conclusion. In the first chapter, the term idiom in Uzbek and the history of theoretical studies on idioms are presented. These theoretical studies are discussed in chronological order. In the second part, the definition of emotion is explained and the classifications of basic emotions in the world, Turkey and Uzbekistan are given. In addition, a list of idioms expressing joy, admiration and love, which constitute our thesis title, has been made. In the third part; idioms in two dialects are examined under the sub-headings of fully equivalent idioms, partial equivalent idioms, idioms with an equivalent expression, and idioms with no equivalent. There are expressions used in everyday language that are found in Uzbek idiom dictionaries but not in Turkish idiom dictionaries. In the same way, there are expressions used in daily language, which are found in Turkish idioms but not in Uzbek idiom dictionaries. Since these expressions correspond to the idiom in the other dialect in terms of both meaning and structure, it was deemed appropriate to be included in the thesis. In the fourth chapter, the translation of idioms expressing joy, admiration and love in six novels translated from Uzbek to Turkish and from Turkish to Uzbek has been evaluated. In the conclusion part, the results obtained in the thesis are given. All sources used in the thesis are given in alphabetical order in the bibliography.
