Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this research, conducted with a pre-test-post-test randomized controlled group design (2x2), is to determine the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on emotion regulation and psychological resilience in mothers of children with special needs. The population of the study consisted of mothers of children with special needs registered in three associations, while the sample consisted of 64 mothers who met the inclusion criteria determined by power analysis. The study, which obtained ethical committee and association approvals, was conducted between February 2020 and August 2021. Data collection included a demographic information form, the Emotion Regulation Scale, the Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults, an evaluation form for the program, and the Automatic Thoughts Scale to identify automatic thoughts during sessions. Data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) (IBM SPSS Statistics 24). Frequency tables and descriptive statistics were used for interpreting the findings. The study found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy had a regulatory effect on emotion regulation and psychological resilience in mothers of children with special needs.
