Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to adapt the Turkish version of the Specific Functional Assessment Scale (SLOF), developed by Schneider and Struening, to determine the specific functional level in schizophrenic patients by conducting a validity and reliability study. The sampling of the methodologically planned research comprised of 220 volunteers who agreed to participate in the study from Community Mental Health Centers affiliated to İzmir Provincial Health Directorate (Menemen State Hospital Community Mental Health Center, Buca Seyfi Demirsoy Community Mental Health Center, İzmir Bozyaka Education and Research Hospital Community Mental Health Center, İzmir Ödemiş Devlet Hastanesi Toplum Psychiatric Center of Psychiatry) EU Medical Faculty Psychiatry Department, Psychiatric Center of Community Health, Center of Psychiatry, Psychiatric Hospital of Psychiatry Hospital of Manisa Provincial Health Directorate and the Community Mental Health Center In the study, a questionnaire form containing the descriptive characteristics of individuals with schizophrenia and a Specific Functional Assessment Scale were used as data collection tools. For the scale validity, 10 expert opinions were taken for the content validity and necessary arrangements were made on the scale in line with the recommendations of the experts. Content validity was determined using Kendall Compliance Coefficient correlation test. Factor analysis was made for the construct / concept validity and it was observed that the Specific Functional Assessment Scale was composed of 5 factors as a result of Explanatory Factor Analysis. Considering the materials in each dimension of the scale:The first factor is called "Activity and Work Skills", the second factor is "Personality Relations", the third factor is "Personal Care", the fourth factor is "Social Acceptance" and the fifth factor is "Physical Functionality". In the reliability study of the scale, it was seen that the Cronbach Alpha coefficient, which determines internal consistency, was positive and the Substance-Total Correlation score varied between 0,290 and 0,909. The test-retest method was applied for time invariance, the same measurement tool was repeated after two weeks, the correlation was checked for consistency between the results of the two tests, and the reliability coefficient was determined as 1.00.In the light of these data, it was determined that the Specific Functional Assessment Scale was a valid and reliable scale. Key words: Schizophrenia, Functionality, Scale, Validity and Reliability.
