Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to examine all of Özgür Balpınar's books published so far in terms of the basic principles of children's literature. Özgür Balpınar's ten books were examined in terms of external structure characteristics that children's literature works should have, such as size, paper, cover, page layout and picture; in terms of internal structure characteristics, subject, theme, character, language and expression, message and educational principles. The author's books were analyzed using the document analysis method. As a result of the research, it was determined that Özgür Balpınar's books are in accordance with the majority of the basic principles of children's literature in terms of external and internal structural features and educational principles. These qualities are that the language and expression are appropriate to the level of the children, the subjects respond to the interests, needs and expectations of the children, the sense of curiosity and conflicts are frequently used in the creation of the subject, and the characters have ages and characteristics that children can identify with. In addition, it has been specified that the messages of the works can build up sensitivity to universal values in children. When all the features of the analysed books were handled, it was concluded that they could be used in teaching Turkish. Besides, it has been seen that the author's books have features that help improve reading habits in children. As a result of the research, recommendations were made to researchers and educators regarding the works examined.
