Abstract (EN)

The South Asian region, an important crossroads in the Asian continent, has always been a dynamic region in terms of history, culture and politics. All of the positive and negative political implications of the Indian subcontinent's disintegration, the Afghan War, and the US intervention in Afghanistan are still affecting this region today. As a result of all of these political events, the Pakistani Taliban (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) has emerged as a terrorist group. This terrorist organization is the most effective and aggressive organization among the terrorist organizations established in Pakistan recently. In this study, internal and external factors that contributed to the emergence of the Pakistani Taliban were analyzed. Case study method is used for the analysis. Detailed historical explanation methodologyin the case studyto explain the origins and evolution of the Pakistani Taliban. Information on Pakistan's general situation is provided in the first part, and the second part describes the formation and characteristics of the Pakistani Taliban. The third part examines the internal dynamics that led to the establishment of the Pakistani Taliban. Internal dynamics such as the Pashtunistan issue, natural disasters in Pakistan, Jihadi rhetoric and Islamization program, and the Pakistan Army's military activities after September 11 played a role in the establishment of Pakistani Taliban. In the fourth part of the study, external dynamics is addressed. In addition to the internal issues, external dynamic play an important role in the formation of the Pakistani Taliban. The Iran-Saudi Arabia rivalry, the emergence of the Afghan War and the Taliban as actors in Afghanistan, the influence of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, the US intervention in Afghanistan after September 11 are external dynamics that caused the formation of the Pakistani Taliban. Pakistan has faced major economic, social, and political issues as a result of the Pakistani Taliban's terrorist attacks. Many civilians and security forces were injured and killed in these attacks. The damage caused by the Pakistani Taliban to Pakistan is significant. Over the past decade, 55,000 Pakistani citizens have died in attacks carried out by the Pakistani Taliban. In addition, the financial damage of the attacks is also considerably high. Pakistan has suffered a financial loss of $103 billion due to these attacks. The burden of problems arising from Afghanistan on Pakistan has increased with the emergence of the Pakistani Taliban, after the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979.
