Abstract (EN)
In this study, the potential of synthesized water-soluble pillar[5]arenes to reduce paraquat toxicity via host-guest interaction was investigated. The biological effects of four derivatives, whose structures were characterized by H-NMR, FT-IR, and elemental analysis, were examined comparatively with pure paraquat on wheat germination and human cell lines (HEPG-2, HEK-293r). The findings demonstrated that pillar[5]arenes significantly reduced the toxic effect. This study contributes to the literature by presenting a novel supramolecular antidote strategy against paraquat poisoning.
