The role of working conditions in the relationship between attitude towards money and pay satisfaction: The case of Elazığ health workers

This study examines the effect of individuals' attitudes towards money on pay satisfaction and the role of working conditions in this relationship. Money has been one of the fundamental elements that shape the economic and social dynamics of societies throughout history. The attitudes that individuals develop towards money are directly related to elements such as economic security, status gain and motivation. Pay satisfaction is a critical factor that reflects individuals' perceptions of whether the wage they receive is fair and affects their work motivation, commitment and performance. In this context, the aim of the study is to analyze the factors that determine individuals' attitudes towards money, to examine the effect of these attitudes on pay satisfaction and to reveal the moderating role of working conditions in this relationship. Quantitative research method was adopted in the study and data was collected from individuals working in the health sector in Elazığ by survey method. The "Attitude Towards Money Scale", "Salary Satisfaction Scale" and "Working Conditions Perception Scale", which are accepted in the literature, were used as measurement tools. The data were analyzed with confirmatory factor analysis, regression analysis and mediation effect tests. The findings show that individuals' attitudes towards money significantly affect salary satisfaction and that working conditions play an important moderating role in this relationship. Positive working conditions increase salary satisfaction and strengthen employees' motivation and commitment to the company. As a result, it is emphasized that in order to increase the salary satisfaction of individuals working in the health sector, not only financial elements but also the working environment and conditions should be improved.
