Abstract (EN)
The increase in the number of terrorist attacks against buildings and safety facilities worries civil engineers. The damage models which the structures create under the effect of explosion are important in terms of reducing the loss of life and property. There are lots of structural element that designs in order to reduce the negative effects that may happen after the explosion. Sandwich slabs, which are easy to manufacture and can be used in many construction applications, compose an example to this. Geometries of sandwich slabs, produce different responses to explosion and various damage patterns after explosion. Starting from this point of view, in the thesis study, sandwich slabs which have been made explosion tests within the scope of TUBITAK 1001 Project of number 219M392, were subjected to numerical analysis. In addition to this, the sandwich slabs design in which absorb the explosion energy was investigated. There are lots of method which being used to analyze the explosion like Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), Euler, Lagrange, ALE, MM-ALE. The Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics Method, in terms of giving accurate results under the effect of high deformations, and analyzing the damage models and pressure distributions in the elements in a realistic way was preferred for the numerical analysis of sandwich slabs with different geometries in the thesis study. Numerical analyzes of sandwich slabs have been performed in the ANSYS Workbench/Autodyn package program. As a result of numerical analysis, damage distributions, pressure distributions and crater pit patterns have been investigated against different TNT equivalent explosive weights of the sandwich slabs. Ultimately, it has been observed that the change in cross-sections of sandwich slabs affected the resistance of the element against explosion and differentiated the pressure and damage distributions.
