Philosophy with children on the basis of Paulo Freire's critical educational philosophy

In this study practices of philosophy with children in context of Paulo Freire's philosophy of critical education has been examined. It is aimed that philosophy with children, as an educational program and method, is conceptualized from perspective of critical education, which assumes education is political, makes contributions to its applications. Descriptive analysis as one of the qualitative research methods has been preferred. Major concepts of Paulo Freire's critical pedagogy have been reviewed and problems which philosophy with children is focused in different aspects within the process were included. Transformation of original version of Lipman's understanding about Philosophy for Children (P4C) to Philosophy with Children with its breakings and continuities has been searched. In conclusion, political potential of agents in theories and practices of Philosophy With Children is highlighted in context of Freire's Critical Education Philosophy.
