Abstract (EN)

Paulo Freire is one of the important thinkers who should be emphasised when it comes to critical philosophy of education. Critical philosophy of education problematised inequality, war, oppression, cruelty and exploitation caused by modernism, which established a new world under the influence of science and positivism. Freire revealed the relationship of these problems with education and that they are constantly reproduced within a traditionalist structure, which he called the banker education model. In the context of his philosophy of critical education, he developed the problem-defining education model based on emancipation as an alternative to the aforementioned understanding of education that causes the oppression he himself experienced. This study aims to discuss today's educational problems in the context of Freire's philosophy of critical education. In this framework, the reflections of Freire's thoughts on today's education are examined by taking the philosopher's work Pedagogy of the Oppressed as the centre, and the situations he problematised and original solution proposals are determined.
