Abstract (EN)
In this study, the behavior of Savonius wind turbine, which is one of the vertical axis wind turbine types, under flow conditions with shield use was numerical investigated. In this study, Savonius turbine with two blades was modeled in Solid Works program. During the study, ANSYS Fluent software and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method were used. The changes in the moment and power coefficients were investigated in the analyzes performed at different shield angles with β = 10 ° - 15 ° and α = 30 ° - 60 °. While the C_p value calculated for the model without shield is 0,161, the C_p value has reached up to 0,18 with the use of shield. In models with shields, the maximum C_p value is obtained in the model where the shield angles are β = 10 ° and α = 55 °. In addition, in this study, it was noticed that there was a turbulent field behind the turbine, and the necessity of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method was expressed in the shielding process in order to increase the performance of Savonius turbines.
