Performance and Profitability of the Technology Sector in Istanbul Stock Market

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the financial performance of the Technology Sector in Istanbul Stock Market. There is a paucity of studies on technology sector. And this thesis can be considered one of the studies done on this topic. There are 11 companies which were operating between the period of 2006 and 2011 and they are all used in the analysis. The empirical results suggest that the equity and size of the companies are playing the main role on the profitability. Turkish technology companies are generally equity based and use short term debt, but in recent years there is an increase in the usage of long term debts.
