Abstract (EN)
In this study, airport fire fighting vehicle and personnel organization structure, protection levels to be provided, rescue and fire fighting vehicles were investigated, and studies on rescuing pilot, personnel and passengers after accident and incident were examined and current practices had been determined. Within the scope of existing practices, this was seen the use of ladders in rescue operations is common. Both the risks of the hazardous areas of the aircraft and the injuries caused by the casualties (secondary injuries) have come concominat serious concerns. In terms of being the basis of this study, a questionnaire was applied about existing practises, risks or positive aspects and whether platform needed or not to 141 ARFF personnel who are working for public and private organizations national/international airports in Turkey. By this means, if they needs a platform for rescue operations, it will be determined which conditions need to be met during rescuing activities. In addition, a questionnaire was applied to 13 pilots who could be the person to be rescued, how much they knew about the current rescue practices, the ideas of rescued side and evaluate using of the platform rescue truck during rescue activities. According to the findings of the study, it is clear that the existing rescue applications are very risky and unsafe in terms of both ARFF personnel and victims. Therefore it is clearly identified that ARFF personnel can work under safer conditions during the rescue activities with a platform rescue truck. As a result of this study, the required features of the platform were determined and it was taken into consideration in the platform design studies.
