Synthesis of hydroxy derivatives of different steroids containing pyrazoline ring

Pyrazoline substituted and polyhydroxy steroid derivatives are commonly used in the pharmacology and medicine fields. In this thesis, two different steroid compounds such as pregnenolone and trans-dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) were used as starting reagents. -Unsaturated carbonyl compounds were obtained by aldol condensation reaction of pyridine carbaldehydes and steroids in basic medium. The endocyclic double bond present in ring B of these compounds was converted to the dihydroxy functional group by oxidation reaction. Endo and exocyclic pyrazoline substituted hydroxy steroids were synthesized from the reactions of the steroids with hydrazine hydrate and phenyl hydrazine in different medium.
