Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to prepare high porous material from biomass wastes (agricultural by-product wastes), to determine the carbonization mechanism and to determine the adsorption behavior of the prepared porous solids. In this thesis, activated carbon was used as adsorbent to remove heavy metals from aqueous solution. Activated carbon is obtained from olive oil, which is solid waste of olive oil. Producing activated carbon using a waste olive stone instead of buying it commercially will add value to our national economy. Since the selected raw material (olive stone) is abundant in our country and regionally, it will be cheaper to supply and it will be used more efficiently for different purposes other than fuel and animal feed. In the second stage of the study, activated carbon produced from pirina was used as adsorbent and the optimum conditions for removal of heavy metals from waste water were determined and investigated in terms of kinetics and thermodynamics. According to the findings, it is determined that these industrial wastes, which play an important role in environmental pollution, can be an alternative method for removing heavy metals from waste water.
