The evaluation of Timsah Arena the stadium of Bursa metropolitan municipality in terms of planning decisions and user satisfaction

The most primitive forms of stadium structures which were seen in Ancient Greek period, have emerged regarding the need arising to carry out the Olympic Games, are admitted as the first examples of these structures. With the increasing interestin football games all over the World, the stadiums have become the structures mentioned together with football rather than the Olympic Games. Owing to that, there was a new concept were emerged which is called football's stadium. When the football clubs were began to build their own stadiums, where the main goal was to provide a suitable area for events, the number of stadium structures were began to increasing. By the rapid changing in the modern World, the satisfaction of the stadium structures' users were began changed. The user profile of the stadium structures would like to make use of different services not only watching a match, from the stadium. The audience gather huge crowds which reach about fifty thousand people at the stadium, are called supporters and they constitutes the main user profile in the stadiums whose satisfaction are significant. Therefore, providing the users' satisfaction in the stadium which are accepted as their home, house or temple by the supporters, is one of the most significant issue of the footbal club, stadium, city and many other users. In recent years, Turkey's oldest stadiums in many cities are demolished instead of building a new stadiums to existing area or any other. Atatürk Stadium is one of the these stadiums which is teh first stadium of the Bursa. The Atatürk Stadium was also a significant example of the Republican Era structures. With in the scope of this study, the new stadium of Bursa which is called as Timsah Arena and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, was evaluated in the usage process and the users' satisfaction regarding rthe architectural characteristis of the stadium was investigated. The reformed users' expectation scale was applied 394 supporters who use the stadium regularly and evaluated in SPSS program that a kind of data entry program. As a result of analyzing the obtained data in the SPSS program, the level of expectation of the users, which factors are effective on the satisfaction and the perception of the old and new stadiums of the city on the supporters are revealed. According to findings, outdoor use and the diversity of social activity areas are the most important factors affecting satisfaction and followed by the comformity of the stadium with the city. Among the supporters who participated in the study, the factor that made the most positive impression, were planning decisions and the security features of the stadium structure. As the destruction of Atatürk Stadium took place with the construction of the new one, it has a huge damage the urban memory. In the conclusion of the study, in accordance with these findings, some suggestions have been developed to provide users' satisfaction for stadiums which have similar dynamics of the example of Bursa Timsah Arena.
