Abstract (EN)

In this study, poly(aminothiazole)s with polyconjugated structures were synthesized by oxidative polycondensation and electropolymerisation methods by using three different aminothiazole monomers. Also, eight kinds of Schiff bases including benzothiazole moieties were synthesized by the condensation reactions of two different benzothiazole derivatives with four different aromatic hydroxy aldehydes. The obtained Schiff bases were converted to their polymers on the active phenol and naphtol rings by oxidative polycondensation technique. The structures of the monomers and polymers were determined by FT-IR, NMR, SEC and SEM analyses, optical properties by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy methods, solid state conductivity measurements by four points prob technique, electrochemical properties by CV analyses, solubilities by solubility tests in various solvents, thermal and mechanical behaviours by melting point determination, TG-DTA, DSC and DMA measurements. Differences on the optical, electrochemical, thermal and physical properties of the synthesized polymers related to structural and synthesis method variations were investigated. Also, some of the Schiff bases and their polymers were investigated whether to use as ion selective optical sensors.
