Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the usability of granite reinforced polymer composite material (PCM) as a building material in machine tools has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. These polyester-based composite samples were produced by mixing granite particles in three different grain sizes and different weights. Also, the cast iron sample used in machine tools, and the samples taken from another PMK-granite plate that had waited for two years was used for comparison. Vibration tests, density tests, bending and compression tests, and structural investigations were carried out on all of these samples. Besides, theoretically, vibration analyzes were made on newly produced samples in ANSYS. The data obtained from the experimental study and the data obtained from the ANSYS software were compared in terms of damping rates and examined together with the information in the literature. In the experiment set, the vibration force applied to the samples was measured with a vibration measuring device and the damping ratios were determined from the amplitude-time values. In the ANSYS software, which uses the finite element method, the experimental test setup was modeled with design and boundary conditions, and the vibration damping properties of the samples were analyzed. In the results obtained from the experimental and ANSYS software, it was determined that PMK-granite material has at least 4.85 times better vibration damping capability than GG20 cast iron. In ANSYS software, without the need for experimental tests, the composite material was designed with a multi-scale modeling technique and analyzed in a computer environment. The results obtained from these analysis data matches the data in the experimental vibration-damping test by 60% - 80%. It is expected that this percentage ratio will increase in direct proportion with increasing the boundary conditions determined for the analysis. In addition to this, it is anticipated that this polymer composite material can be used not only in machine tools but also in many other machines due to its vibration-damping feature.
