Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the design, analysis, and characterization of phononic crystal structures based on polymer acoustic metamaterials to provide solutions for environmental and industrial noise problems. It particularly aims to develop low-cost and effective noise insulation systems for high noise sources such as railway transportation. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to explore the wave propagation behavior of phononic crystals and their potential in sound insulation applications. In the practical phase, two-dimensional periodic phononic structures with different lattice types (square, rectangular, triangular, honeycomb) were designed and modeled. The effects of geometric parameters such as lattice constant and cylinder radius on transmission loss were analyzed using Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations conducted in COMSOL Multiphysics, and validated through experimental measurements. The study also examined the impact of parameters such as hollow or liquid-filled cylinders on the band structure and acoustic performance. The results show that the lattice type, geometric dimensions, and core filling material play a significant role in acoustic insulation performance. This research goes beyond theoretical analysis by incorporating experimental validation, demonstrating the applicability of phononic crystal systems in real-world noise control. The findings underline the potential of such structures as innovative and effective solutions for acoustic insulation.
