Abstract (EN)

AimThe aim of this study is to retrospectively asses the patients referred to University of Dicle Medicine Faculty for various neurological diagnosis and have a final diagnosis of PRES after 16 and 64 MDCT, 1.5 Tesla and 3 Tesla MR interpretetion.Materials and MethodsThe MRI and CT imaging studies of 31 patients who had PRES diagnosis in our center between january 2009 and may 2011 have been retrospectively assesed. All patients have undergone a careful evaluate of recorded clinical informations for etiological investigation. The anatomical localisations and imaging properties of lesions have been assesed. Additionally, the diffusion weighted MRI properties and diffusion values in ADC maps have been assesed for 21 patients.FindingsThe study group contains 29 female and 2 male patients. The youngest individual was 2, the oldest was 41 years old and the mean age of group was 22,6 years. The most common etiological factor was pregnancy induced eclampsia(%58) the other reasons contain postpartum loss of sight, convulsion, HELLP syndrome, chronic renal failure, missed abortus, AML, ALL, intrauterin exitus and DIC syndrome respectively. Of 31 patients, totally 112 lesion localisation have been detected. The most common localisations were parietal, occipital, and frontal lobes respectively. Normal parancim ADC values are between 0,725x10 -³ mm²/sn and 0,786x10-¬³ mm²/sn, mean ADC value was 0,755x10 -³ mm²/sn.ConclusionThe most common etiological factor for PRES was pregnancy induced eclampsia in our study. The mean ADC value of lesions was between 1,068x10-¬³ mm²/sn and 1,512x10-¬³ mm²/sn. There is no statistically significant difference between the ADC values of most common localisations which include frontal, parietal and occipital lobe. Looking at all the locations on the values of the measured values of ADC lesions is quite high compared to the normal parenchyma (p <0.001).
