Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to learn about the sexual health of postmenopausal women living in our region and to assess the impact of sexual health on their own and family life dynamics, physical and psychological health.Materials and Methods: Married 170 postmenopausal women applying to Cukurova University Medical School Menopause Outpatient Clinic were included in this study. Quality of Sexual Function Scale (QSF) was used. The women?s sociodemographic data, health conditions, currently used drugs, habits, the duration of menopause, hormone replacement therapy and the admissions for sexual problems were asked face to face in the outpatient clinic. Results: The mean age was 54,16±5,69 (34-73) years. Of women, 87,4% were overweight or obese and 40% did not have any illness. The mean duration of menopause was 72,66±67,87 (3-360) months. The mean duration of hormone replacement therapy was 31,87±18,29 (6-60) months. As the educational status of woman got better, the rate of her partner?s willingness for sexual intercourse was decreased and the woman?s willingness to start the sexual intercourse increased. There was a significant relationship between the woman?s sexual organs responding well to her libido and fantasies and the monthly income. Conclusion: We believe that a comprehensive aspect is required while dealing with the menopausal period and related problems. Considering the studies advocating the multidisciplinary approach, we can suggest that person-centered care; a core competency of family medicine discipline and existentialist model are required.
