The seismic behaviour of prefabricated buildings and implementation principals of 1998 Turkish earthquake code

In this working which has been prepared as thesis for master of science, primarily the development of the technology of prefabrication in Turkey and in the world has been mentioned and general information about the prefabricated structures has been given. It has been mentioned that to produce the reinforced concrete structure systems in less time, higher in quality and more economic , the prefabrication comes at the head of the most productive technologies. The advantages and disadvantages of prefabrication have been briefed in this study, the systems of prefabricated structures have been examined separately and the seismic behavior of prefabricated frames and panel wall systems have been studied in details. The basic principles of the resistance against earthquake have been examined and the damages of eartquake to prefabricated buildings have been briefed. 1998 Eartquake Code has been discussed from the point of view of prefabricated buildings . 17 August Marmara Eartquake and Prefabricated Buildings Eartquake Report Summary that had been done by Turkey Prefabricated Unity Members has been researched and according to 1998 Eartquake Code hinge joints calculation methods in the prefabricated systems have been examined, lateral stability problems and wall panel joints have been researched. The damages of eartquake to prefabricated buildings and the reasons of damages have been examined and also different suggestions have been presented about the new prefabricated buildings that will be built in the future.
