Abstract (EN)
Introduction: Prostate cancer is the most common and mainly androgen-dependent cancer in men over 50 years of age. However, some studies show that estrogens also have an effect on the development of prostate cancer. The aim of this study is whether estrogen receptors have an effect on the biochemical recurrence after surgery with non-metastatic prostate cancer. Material & Methods: The data of 514 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical prostatectomy between 01.01.2011 and 31.12.2019 were retrospectively evaluated. The exclusion criteria are: lack of clinical follow-up data, pathology result of pT4 after surgery, positive surgical margin, lymph node involvement and adjuvant hormonal therapy and/or external beam radiotherapy. Patients with biochemical recurrence were identified. The control group was formed with the ''Propensity Score Mathcing'' method of 1:2 ratio, which included the parameters with proven effects on biochemical recurrence. Immunohistochemical staining was applied to the pathology specimens of the two groups using estrogen α and β antibodies. Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the risk factors. Survival analysis was performed with the variables found to be significant in the logistic regression analysis. Results: Median follow-up was 69.7 (30-130) months. There was no difference between the two groups in terms of clinicopathological features (p; >0.05). In logistic regression analysis, both ERα - and ERβ + staining was statistically significant (p: 0.048). In the survival analysis, the 5-year biochemical recurrence free survival (85.7% vs. 66.1%) was significantly higher in this group (p: 0.031) Conclusion: Estrogen receptors have a predictive value in biochemical recurrence. In addition, the 5-year biochemical recurrence free survival rate is significantly better in both ERα - and ERβ + staining group
