Abstract (EN)
Depression is a serious syndrome that affects the general health of individuals. Body perception and general self-sufficiency of individuals are some of the causes of the formation of depression. The purpose of this study is to examine the levels of self-efficacy and body perception as the predictors of depression in psychology students. A total of 190 people, 39 males and 151 females, participated in the study. Participants were given sociodemographic data form, General Self-efficacy Scale, Body-Perception Scale and Beck Depression Scale. As a result of the hypothesis tests, it was seen that the average scores of men's body perception and the depression scores of regular smokers were found significantly high. The mean score of depression was found significantly higher in subjects with low body perception. As a result of the correlation analysis, a statistically significant correlation coefficient was found between the body perception and depression total scores and between the general self-efficacy and depression total scores. Finally, the regression analysis showed that the total scores of the general self-efficacy and body-perception measures significantly correlated with depression total score.
