Investigation of psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility and self-compassion in psychological counselor candidates

The aim of the study is to examine psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility and self-compassion status of counselor candidates. The research group consists of a total of 286 students studying in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance in the Kafkas University Dede Korkut Education Faculty. Adult Resilience Scale, Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, Self-Compassion Scale and Personal Information Form were used in the study. Spearman Rank Correlation Analysis, Mann Whitney U-test and Kruskal Wallis H-test were used in the analysis of the data. According to analysis, it was seen that there was a positive and significant relationship between the psychological resilience and cognitive flexibility scores of the counselor candidates, and the resilience and self-compassion scores. Counselor candidates' psychological resilience scores showed a significant difference in terms of gender, parental togetherness, perception of social support, cognitive flexibility scores show a significant difference in terms of decision-making style in life variable, but there is no significant difference in terms of gender, number of books read annually and it was determined that self-compassion scores did not show a significant difference in terms of gender, perceived maternal attitude, perceived father attitude, empathizing status, and decision-making style in life variables.
