Abstract (EN)

In the last decades, radioactive iodine in the treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer is a commonly used method. The mechanism of radioactive iodine effect for Na-I symporter system in to cells followed on the destruction by beta radiation. These involvement mechanisms in the thyroid, salivary glands and other organs such as stomach, bowels, lacrimal glands is also. Target organ and source organ in the radioactive substance secondary radiation dose exposure calculation with MIRD (Medical Internal Radiation Dozimetry) method most commonly used. Mustafa Kemal University, Faculty of Medicine Education and Research Hospital Nuclear Medicine Department comes patients with a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism to be receive a radioactive iodine treatment. Before and after treatment to patients in the same sessione thyroid and salivary gland scintigraphy was performed. It was evaluated visually and quantitatively. I- 131 uptake tests were done. The study included 19 patients were given radyoactive iodine therapy, mean dose 19.63 mCi ± 5:01 mCi; According to the MIRD method of the thyroid gland mean '' S '' value is an 0.1 rad / μCixh within ± 0.05 rad / μCixh, mean '' D '' value is the 8.1Gy / GBq ± 6.19 Gy / GBq respectively. Obtained for salivary gland mean '' D '' value of the 0.05 Gy / GBq ± 0.01 Gy/GBq. Thyroid 'S' value with dose proportion between relationship statistical significant. After treatment thyroid weight with between thyroid '' S '' value showed a negative correlation. Absorbed dose value (D) of salivary glands between of the pre-treated thyroid weight and radioactive iodine dose values was observed to have a positive correlation. Salivary glands of the ‟D'' value between by the thyroid ‟S'' value was found negative correlation to be statistically significant. Although pre-treatment values of maximum uptake was effected in the salivary glands but the maximum secretion ratio unchanged.
