Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to investigate the antiurolithiatic effects of Royal Jelly on ethylene glycol induced urolithiasis in rats. Male wistar albino rats were divided into five treatment groups. Group 1 was defined as the control group. Ethylene glycol added drinking water (%1) was given the rats in Group 2 for 28 days. In Group 3, Royal Jelly (100 mg/kg) was given the rats by oral gavage. In Group 4 (protective) ethylene glycol added drinking water was given for 28 days and Royal Jelly was administered by oral gavage. Group 5 was defined as the therapeutic group. The study's first 14 days ethylene glycol added drinking water was given rats in Group 5. Then Royal Jelly was administered for past 14 days by oral gavage. End of the study exposed rats obtained from urine, blood and tissue samples MDA, GSH, CAT, NO, TAS, TOS, OSI, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-18, Ca, phosphate and the pH levels were measured. Considering the results obtained in the ethylene glycol was found to induce oxidative stress and inflammation. Royal Jelly supports the antioxidative system, it was determined that the effect of reducing lipid peroxidation. Ethylene glycol induced negative changes in biochemical parameters of blood and tissue samples were partially reversed by treatment with Royal Jelly. Royal Jelly with the therapeutic applications of the results obtained in the group is particularly noteworthy.
