Abstract (EN)
Sleep is an important biological activity that takes up one third of day. Quality sleep is essential for both mental and physical health. Sleep disorders are associated with mental, cognitive and physical diseases. For a healthy sleep, the sleep stages must be completed without interruption. Sleep interruptions can be caused by a physical illness or environmental factors. The most common environmental factors that cause sleep interruptions are temperature changes and snoring/noise. In this study, a thermo-regulation system aiming to keep the bed temperature within a certain range is presented. Using sensors placed in the bed, the bed temperature is continuously monitored and when the temperature goes out of the desired temperature range, the bed temperature is regulated by feeding hot/cold air into the bed. In the second part of the study, a pillow prototype that can detect snoring, which is another common cause of sleep interruptions, and aims to reduce snoring by changing the neck position during snoring is detected. Experiments have shown that both the thermo-regulation system and the design of the snoring-reducing pillow work as intended.
