Abstract (EN)

Abstract The study aimed to determine, classify and evaluate the pre-reading, reading and after reading strategies of students who are labeled as "gifted" or "talented" in the literature. During the literature review process, while Google Scholars, database of National Thesis Center of Council of Higher Education and printed books on the related subjects were used for Turkish sources, database of Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) was used for foreign sources. 40 students of Çiğli Karşıyaka Aydoğan Yağcı Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi participated in the research. The students were handed an interview form which then used to determine the reading strategies used by students. These strategies were divided into four categories; environment, mental, physical, both mental and physical and then each were divided again into sub-categories of pre-reading, reading and after reading. 81 category was determined then encoded and their usage ratios were calculated. The study concluded with recommendations to the fellow researchers and related institutions for gifted and regular students in the light of the data obtained thanks to the research.
