Abstract (EN)
Teaching is a teaching-centered pedagogical profession. Job satisfaction is that the teacher satisfies with his job and profession. The higher job satisfaction a teacher has the more conscious, the more confident, and the more successful the students that teacher taught will become. From this perspective, my thesis is aimed at defining and comparing the levels of job satisfaction of second ranked branch teachers in public and private elementary schools. First of all, motivation and motivation theories related to job satisfaction are explained. There are many factors affecting people to satisfy with their job. These factors are examined based on dual decomposition as internal and external factors in our study.Secondly, since structure and environment of institutions where teachers work affect the job satisfaction directly, the general character of Turkish education system, and development process of public and private elementary schools are touched upon. The current situation of our educational system in the context of job satisfaction is included. The general research outcomes related to job satisfaction and specific research outcomes related to profession of teaching are also evaluated.Thirdly and finally, the levels of job satisfaction of second ranked branch teachers in public and private elementary schools in Sarıyer district are determined and what similarities and differences there are in the context of public-private school types are examined. As a result of survey research, it is observed that the branch teachers are satisfied with their job. But different satisfaction levels are identified in various contexts. In the light of results reached, proposals are made with an aim of increasing job satisfaction of teachers.Key expressions: Teacher, Job Satisfaction, Elementary School, Satisfaction, Branch
