Abstract (EN)

Classical Turkish poetry has developed and maintained its existence in a close relationship with social life throughout history. Especially in the 17th century, Divan literature moved away from the influence of Persian literature and developed an original literary approach that adopted national and local elements. During this period, poets began to give more space to the local language and details of the people‟s daily lives in their poems, thus images reflecting social reality came to the fore in their works. Rezmî, one of the poets of this period, also successfully expressed the social and cultural structure of Ottoman society in his works. In his poems, which he wrote at a time when the Ottomans were struggling with political and economic problems, he skillfully reflected the people‟s lifestyle, values, and the colors of daily life. Rezmî‟s Divan is an original text that was written in a simple and natural language without strictly adhering to traditional lyrical patterns, and managed to handle social life with poetic elegance. Despite his dynastic origins, his deep knowledge of the people‟s lives and his ability to incorporate local idioms into his works are among the most important indicators of his literary personality and social sensitivity. These characteristics reveal how sensitive Rezmi‟s works were to the cultural and social values of the period. The aim of the study is to systematically identify the elements of social life in Rezmi‟s Divan and to reveal the close and mutual relationship between classical Turkish poetry and the public. In the study, Mehmet Gürbüz‟s master‟s thesis titled "Rezmi Divan (Study-Text)" was used as the main source. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was adopted and the Divan was scanned in detail with the profiling method. The study consists of two main parts; in the first part, information is given about the poet‟s life, literary personality and Divan, while in the second part, the elements of social life identified in the Divan are evaluated comprehensively. In the conclusion part, it is emphasized that, in the light of the findings obtained, Rezmi‟s poetry successfully reflects the social and cultural structure of the period and is a concrete example of the strong relationship between classical Turkish poetry and public life. Thus, the interaction between the literary text and the social structure is revealed in detail and the close relationship of classical poetry with social life is proven once again
